Well, all of us knows that Microsoft has come up with a new search engine called Bing. Now, how to decide which one to select your default search engine. It should be Google for most of us but if comes to comparing both then a website Bing-Vs-Google enable us to take a look at side by side comparison of the search results. Below are some screen shots :
1) Search for the word Geomatery (Spelling mistake was a deliberate effort 🙂 ). No suggestion of correct spelling from Bing.
2) Search for the word filosofy (Spelling mistake was a deliberate effort 🙂 ). The result was amazing. The two words ‘Filosofy’ and ‘Philosophy’ are completely different. Only the pronunciation is similar. Still, Google manage to suggest the perfect match.
3) Search for G talk techniques. Well, this time I got the spelling right 🙂 but this time Bing’s results were way beyond what was expected 🙂 :). Just take a look at below screen shot. You can try this by yourself also.
This 3rd bizarre result made me thing that probably Microsoft is filtering results if the search term is related to Google in any way. Well, may be because Google is a competitor for them :). But, this was not the case because my next search with terms ”Google’ resulted with normal search results in Bing( though by default Bing displayed only two search results for Google and I had to click on ‘Search for other results containing Google to get the entire list as shown below). Whereas Google gave all the results for term ‘Bing’ in normal manner.
Well, in the end I would say that it Google in far ahead of Bing in terms of good suggestions and relevance of the search in some scenarios but the converse is not true for any scenario.
Stay tuned for more.
