{How To}

Google has released a feature for Google Docs to make multi-lingual sharing easier — you can now automatically translate documents into 42 different languages. Now, you can very easily share your document, which are in English, with your friends, colleagues, relatives etc who are not very much confident with English. Just translate the document using this new translate feature and share it.

So, how to do that. Well, its quite simple.

1) Upload the document (word or notepad). Here I have uploaded a document ‘Translation.txt’. You might already uploaded documents. In this ase just go to step 2.

Google doc 1

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            2) Open it by clicking one and you will find ‘Translate document’ option under ‘Tools’ as shown below.

Google doc 2

Once you translate a documents to a specific language, you will be given options to either replace the original document with the translated one or save the translated document as new one. Below is an example of translation of above document from English to German.

Google doc 3

If you select ‘Copy to new document’ then new documents will be named as ‘Copy of <Document name>’ (Copy of Translation in current example) and will be saved in your inbox as shown below.

All of us have someting that we do not need anymore and you don’t want to throw either. At time you give the stuff to friends.  But sometimes you don’t even have a friend who need it. Well, the stuff will remain with you which you actually don’t want. You can always post in Facebook or Orkut about the stuff which you want to give away. But there is a more interesting way to do this.

You can post your auctions in Listia.

Well its quite easy to start using the site. Everything is based on credits. So let us dig in some explanation.

What are Credits, well you can take them as points which you can use to place your bid on the free stuff being auctioned. The free items includes ipods, adobe photoshop cs3, cameras, books, cell phones and many more items in various catagories.

How Do I Get Credits,

1) The easiest way to get credits is to sign up! New users receive $50 in free credits (500 credits) for a limited time. Just create an account and list an item. Credits cannot be redeemed for cash.

2) One other way is to put the item, which you want to give away, in auction and earn credits if someone buy the item.

3) Get credits of $5 in free credits (50 credits) when you refer your friend after signing up and the person join Listia.

4) If you find yourself short on credits you can also buy credits to bid on items you want. Credits cannot be redeemed for cash after the return period. Seems less interesting 🙂

Now you know about credits and how to get them. So, what are you waiting for. Start placing your bids on the stuff of your choice. When the auction ends, the user who bid the highest amount of credits wins. You can also browse your required stuff category wise. Just click ‘Browse Categories’ link on the home page as shown below.

Friends, earlier I wrote an article on What are Rootkits, How they work, software to remove them. In the article I mentioned an application called RootkitRevealer which helps in indentifying suspesious DLLs in the system. But the problem was that we need to analyse the file and then manually delete it because the application doesn’t remove the files from the system. Further, it doesn’t support Windows Vista.

I just came across another excellent utility called SpyDLLRemover 2.5 from RootkitAnalytic which helps in identifying and removing infectious DLL’s(Rootkits, spywares, adwares etc).   Below is a screen shot :

    SpyDLLRemover

It supports Windows XP, 2003, and Vista. Below is a small description of the utility as mentioned on the official website :

SpyDLLRemover is the standalone tool to effectively detect and delete spywares from the system. It comes with advanced spyware scanner which quickly discovers hidden Rootkit processes as well suspcious/injected DLLs within all running processes. It not only performs sophisticated auto analysis on process DLLs but also displays them with various threatlevels(Red, Orange and Yellow colours) , which greatly helps in quick identification of malicious DLLs. The DLL search feature helps in finding DLL within all running processes using just partial or full name. Then user can choose to remove the dll from single process or from all loaded processes with just one click.

One of the unique feature of SpyDLLRemover is its capability to free the DLL from remote process using advanced DLL injection method which can defeat any existing Rootkit tricks. It also uses sophisticated low level anti-rootkit techniques to uncover hidden userland Rootkit processes as well as to terminate them.

Newer version comes with other cool features such as HTML based report generation, sorting the process/dll list for quick analysis, enhanced user interface etc.

    Features :

    1) Advanced Spyware Scanner which efficiently discovers hidden Rootkit processes as well as suspicious/injected DLLs within all running processes in the system.

    2) Detection and removal of hidden userland Rootkit processes using sophisticated techniques.

    3) It uses the direct system calls to perform process related operations which defeats any attempt to hide by userland rootkits.

    4) Termination of suspicious or hidden process based on low level implementation which makes it very effective against any Rootkit techniques.

an many more. You can visit the website for details on various features.

You can download SpyDLLRemover 2.5 from here.

Since, it is a standalone application therefore you are start using it right away after downloading as it doesn’t require installation. SpyDLLRemover is an easy to use tool with a very user friendly interface. Once you click on ‘Start scan’ button, SpyDLLRemover will display the suspicious DLL’s, if any, in a window as shown below :

    1

Once you click on any of the DLL, a new window will open in which SpyDLLRemover displays all processes who have loaded the suspicious DLL with all the details like PID, Company, Description, Complete path of the processes. This information helps in deciding if the process (and DLL) is from a genuine application or an infection.  Afterwards, you can let the process (and DLL) to run or remove the DLL from the selected/all processes by clicking on ‘Remove DLL’ or ‘Remove DLL from ALL’ buttons.

All the persons who have Gmail account must be aware about ‘Labels’ which can be used to mark emails. Below is an example. Here Tech2know mails is a label.

    Labels

Though it is a useful feature but it may pose difficulty in reading an e mail’s subject line on notebooks because of limited screen space.  Now, you can remove labels from email’s subject lines very easily via ‘settings’ –> Labels –> Remove. But, this will permanently remove the labels from the subject and you won’t be able to view the same when you switch from notebook to a desktop or a laptop with a wider screen.  So, what to do??

Well, Google has come up with a feature with the help of which you can temorarely hide Labels in the subject lines leaving the space for the subject itself.  Just go to ‘Settings’ –> ‘Labs’ –> ‘Remove Labels from Subjects’ –> ‘Enable’ –> ‘save changes’. Below is a screenshot/image of this feature. Once you enable this feature, it’ll hide lables from the subject subject lines. Just disable it and the lables will reappear in the subject lines.

    Gmail hide label

This is quite useful feature which will enable you to read emal’s subject completely on a notebook without removing the labels permanently.
